17th Century Framed Dutch Oil Portrait of a Lady with Pink Rose

$4,395.00

17th Century Dutch portrait of a lady. Portrait is circa 1650. She is adorned with pearl earrings, a clip subtly placed in her hair & a gold ring on her right pinky. She has one hand on a riffle and the other holding a rose. In the background, though hard to make out, is a black curtain. Beautifully executed by a very skilled hand of the time.

I was told by the seller for which I aquired her from that the painting was a museum acquisition, though seller would not disclose which museum.

Previous restoration evident with newer wood frame. Also evidence of past auctions from stickers found on back. The overall guilded frame is missing decorative pieces throughout and in rough condition. Noted is a tear through the middle of canvas that has an attempted repair. Some paint loss can also be noted throughout the canvas. Canvas is loosely stretched on wood frame with noted rippling of canvas. Painting could be fully restored or kept as-is for its aged beauty. No signature could be found to the naked eye, though proper appraisal/restoration might uncover the paintings artist.

Measures (with frame) 39 1/4” x 27 3/8”
