Stunning English oil portrait of a lady set against a moody scene. On one side is the faint hue of leaves from a tree which is hardly noticeable, while on the other, dark blues and greens to form the colors of a landscape.
There is a stamp on the back of what I presume is the canvas maker. It read, in part: “52 Rating N. _______ & 20 Oxford Street W. London”. The top of this line is illegible as-well-as parts of the aforementioned.
There is also a small remnant of a paper that was once glued to the back of canvas possibly giving artist information. No signature on canvas could be found otherwise and artist attribution is unknown.
